Mosely Koed Mayorga via Dramatic Clutch Punches

The Bull was punished by Sugar......
This is how I would describe the fight during the late rounds after round 5. At the earlier rounds, Ricardo Mayorga looks better than before, having better defense and better punching ability than before while Mosley give no hints of what he is planning. Showing less punches and less power than he used to be. Generally I think the two fighters fought strange. Its not the typical Mayorga neither Shane Mosley way to start a fight. Mayorga is better and Suger is not. Well, its just the first half of the fight...
"Mayorga took some good shots early but I felt I could take him down later. He fought a good fight," Mosley said. "I could feel him getting weaker. I knew I had the fight won (in 12th round), but I wanted to go for the knockout because that's what the fans wanted."
The victory, combined with his impressive performance in a tight loss to Miguel Cotto last year sets Mosley (45-5, 38 KOs) up for a number of big fights in the welterweight division. Mosley is hoping to get a shot at fighting Cotto-conqueror Antonio Margarito, the current poster boy at 147 pounds. Failing that, other attractive options include a rematch with Cotto and fights with Paul Williams, Joshua Clottey and perhaps unbeaten Andre Berto, who successfully defended his belt against wily veteran Steve Forbes in the opening fight on the card.
Round1
Mayorga jabbing. Mosley coming forward. That's a surprise. Mayorga throws an overhand right, then comes up with an uppercut. Mayorga rakes to the body with a digging blow. Mosley returns the favor with shots to the liver. Mosley is trading on even terms with Mayorga. That's dangerous, just ask Vernon Forrest. A big right rocks Mosley. Mosley shuffles and struggles to keep his balance. Mayorga supremely confident. Mosely trying to relax. Mayorga is leading with a telegraphed right hand -- and landing. Mosley leery at the bell.
Score 10-9: Mayorga
Round 2
Mosley trying to slow Mayorga with bodyshots. Mayorga controlling the ring and fighting with a high workrate. Both men tie up with a minute left in the round. Mayorga just misses with a right. Mosley on his toes. Mayorga misses and Mosley counters with a half-hearted jab. Mayorga gets hit with a jab seconds before the bell.
Score 10-9: Mayorga
Round 3
Fort the third time in the round, Mayorga attempts to slam Mosley. Mayorga imposing his power on Mosley. Mayorga jabs, then throws a haymaker right.
Score 10-9: Mayorga
Round 4
Mayorga's punches are losing steam. Mosley counters a Mayorga charge with a pair of hooks. Now a right hand stops Mayorga in his tracks. Mosley finding a home for counter rights and hooks on Mayorga's chin now. This is by far Mosley's best round. Mayorga charges in but is met with a jab.
Score 10-9: Mosley
Round 5
Mayorga stalks, misses with a punch, then locks up. Mosley just misses with a right, and Mayorga is hopelessly late with a counter right. Mosely seems relaxed and confident at this point. Mayorga lands a solid hook as Mosley pulls straight back. A right hand lands flush for Mosley. Mosley opening up and Mayorga looking to take advantage. Score 10-9: Mayorga
Round 6
Both men come out firing to start Rounf 6. Mosley stuns Mayorga with a quick combination. Mayorga gathers himself quickly. Mayorga is predictable with his punches at this point. Clash of heads; both me are OK. Mosley stalking Mayorga. Mosley opening up; Mayorga nods for more punishment. Mosley teeing off. Mosley lands a vicious left hook. Mayorga asking for more. Mosley jabs, hooks, uppercuts to the body and goes back to the head at the bell.

Manny Pacquiao
At the age of 26, Manny is a ten-year pro - he made his debut at the age of 16. A former two-time world champion, he won the WBC flyweight world title two weeks before his 20th birthday in December, 1998, and held the title for nearly a year. He held the IBF jr. featherweight world title from June, 2001, until he vacated it on January 15, 2004, to move up to the featherweight division.

An aggressive lefthanded slugger, Manny is recognized as one of the hardest punchers at any weight. He is 14-1-2 in his last 17 fights, with all 14 wins coming by knockout. In his last fight on September 10, he TKO'd Hector Velazquez in the sixth round.

Manny has been fighting at the top levels of competition, and has been in several of the most exciting fights of recent years.

Graham Houston wrote in Boxing Monthly, "Quite simply, Pacquiao is one of the hottest fighters in the business. There is a saying in American boxing: 'Speed kills.' When that speed is accompanied by power, it is truly a formidable combination - and Pacquiao has it."
On March 19, he lost a very close decision in a tremendous battle against Erik Morales. Manny fought to a 12-round draw on May 8, 2004, against Juan Manuel Marquez in a fight many observers considered to be the "Fight of the Year."

In November, 2003, he scored a devastating TKO win against former three-time world champion Marco Antonio Barrera. After the fight, HBO boxing analyst Larry Merchant said, "This is a fight that will shake up the boxing world. Long live the new king."
