Fighter of the year

Here is our Top 2 - 5 in any order

Joe Calzaghe
He had beaten two legends this year namely Bernard Hopkins(Split) and Roy Jones Jr(unanimous) as his newest trophy.

Antonio Margarito
Had won two titles at welterweight division by beating two champions namely Kermit Cintron(round 6 KO) for IBF welterweight and Miguel Cotto (round 11 TKO) for WBA Welterweight Title.

Wladimir Klitschko
Had 3 convincing wins this year against Sultan Ibragimov ( via UD), Tony Thompson (round 11 KO), and Hasim Rahman ( round 7 TKO). He had been dominating HW division for long time now.

Vic Darchinyan
Vic had virtually won 3 fights this year if you would ask real boxing fans and analyst. At February 2, 2008, Vic fought Z Gorres and ended in an controversial draw. His next fights were against Dimitri Kirilov( Round 5 KO) where Vic got his IBF superfly weight title. Next is the popular Cristian Mijares(Round 9 KO) where he got WBA super flyweight title and WBC super flyweight title thus giving him the IBF, WBA, and WBC super flyweight titles at the same time. And Vic Darchinyan is the first ever to do this( To unify all the titles in that division). And it all happend this year.

And the Fighter of the year goes to:
Manny Pacquiao
Hands down to this, this is no contest and no argument and no doubt... Manny Pacquiao deserves to have "The Fighter / Boxer of the year". Pacquiao had his first win this year against WBC world super featherweight Champion Juan Manuel Marquez at 130lbs division, his second win were done at 135lbs division agains WBC world lightweight Champion David Diaz, Manny Pacquiao's 3rd win this year was against Oscar De la Hoya at 147lbs. To sum it, Manny Pacquiao had won 2 titles in 2 different divisions, and had jumped to 147lbs to win over De la Hoya. Pacquiao had won in 3 different divisions in a span of 4 different division(130, 135, 140, and 147 lbs division).

Congratulation to the Best P4P fighter and the fighter of the year Manny Pacquiao!!!

Boxing Fight of the year

Heres our top 3 boxing fights of the year:

Top 3:
Bernard Hopkins vs Joe Calzaghe
One of the closest match to call this year... After Bernard floored Calzaghe at round 1, Calzaghe proved it against a 43 year old super star Bernard Hopkins that he can turn around the match by winning rounds and displaying his very good conditioning. Bernard had also won more rounds and gave Calzaghe problems as they aproached the final round. The fight ended with Calzaghe's win via split. Though, many analyst were convinced Bernard had won, they have given Calzaghe the credits and had been a heavy favorite on his next fight against Roy Jones Jr.

Top 2:
Miguel Cotto vs Antonio Margarito
Though not that close. The fight is very entertaining as the fans expects a twist on tis fight. Yes the twist happend. It gaved Cotto his very first lost, via KO. And it also gaved name to Antonio Margarito. This two fighters had been calling Floyd "The Pretty Boy" Mayweather Jr. And proved to be best of the best Welterweight today.

Top 1:
Juan Manuel Marquez vs Manny Pacquiao "part 2"
If you could call a fight a close fight, this is the closest fight as it can get... The Top 1 best P4P and the former Top 5 best P4P fighter collide. And every round were competetively fought. Thus, giving Juan Manuel Marquez the right to be called Top 3 best P4P fighter in the world due to his ver close and tight lost against Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao had scored a kockdown during round 3 and the only difference as Manny had win via split.

Upset / Shocker Boxing Fight of the year for 2008 goes to...

Here is the top our Top 3 upset of the year for 2008 in the world of boxing...

Top3:
Miguel Cotto vs Antonio "The Terminator" Margarito
* At the start of the fight, the undefeated Cotto was heavy favorite to win the fight by unanimous. After Cotto dominated Mosely. The 5'11" Margarito suddenly made sound in boxing world by beating one of the best P4P fighter and the former best Welterweight fighter in the world Miguel Cotto At 11 rounds via TKO. "The Terminator"(Margarito) gained lots of respect for this very win and put Mexico on Top of the Boxing once again...

Top2:
Kelly Pavlik vs Bernard Hopkins
*The fight is simply astonishing. After Kelly Pavlik beat Jermain Taylor at Middleweight. Kelly decided to jump to Light Heavyweight to fight former best P4P fighter and a 43 yr old Bernard Hopkins who had a fresh lost against Joe Calzaghe. Manny analyst told it would only took one solid punch to give Bernard Hopkins his very first lost via KO. Kelly never had a chance to land his very powerful punch. And its a 12 full rounds of showtime in favor of "The Executioner" (Bernard) against a younger and stronger heavy favorite Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik at Light heavy Weight.

Top1:
Oscar "The Golden Boy" De la Hoya vs Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao
With all their popularity Manny Pacquiao and his team looked ridicule all the time before the fight. All people were feeling sorry for team Pacquiao before December 6 2008. All sports analyst and almost all known and respected boxing stars expected Oscar to over power, over size, and out smart The Philippines Sensation and world's best boxer Manny Pacquiao. Many people around the world expected the fight to be the biggest mismatch in boxing history, since, Pacquiao had only started as a pro-boxer at weight class 106lbs. And He will compete at Welterweight division. A Philippine governor even requested the Philippines Sport Comission to suspend Pacquiao's boxing license just to insure Pacquiao would never had to fight Oscar De la Hoya. But to every body's surprise, Manny Pacquiao dominated every second inside the ring and scored an 8 round stoppage over one of the best P4P fighter ever Oscar. That event is so insane and the most unbelievable thing that ever happened to boxing.

Pacquioa vs Hatton for 2009

A meeting were scheduled between Bob Arum ( Pacquiao's promoter) and Richard Schaefer ( Hatton's promoter) for a negotiation for Pacquiao - Hatton fight this coming year 2009.

Schaefer aggressively offers big bucks for Bob Arum ( the owner of Top Rank, Inc.). According to Schaefer, if ever Pacquiao - Hatton will happen this coming year, they will make it sure that the fight will be at 140lbs.

Hatton, considered as the best fighter at his division (140) , is willing to place his IBF title on the line for a fight with Pacquiao. He recently win over an IBF champion Paul Malignaggi New York.

If Freddy Roach will be ask or decide, Who among Floyd Mayweather or Ricky Hatton will they choose to fight, Freddy says:
Hatton is the best fighter out there for us right now, money wise, style wise. He is a hard guy. He likes to fight It would be a very interesting fight. I think, the world would love to see that and Manny has been always wants to give the world what they want... A lot depends on what makes sense. The economy is bad right now and we cant wait too long because I want to see Manny fight Hatton and Mayweather and retire the greatest fighter of all time. Feddy discussed..

Meanwhile an interview with Hatton after the "Dream Match"... Hatton says: I was so surprised, Manny Pacquiao is a world wide phenomenon. ( Hatton really looks surprised and or nervous)..

Another interview with Juan Manuel Marquez... Marquez says: I still want to fight Manny Pacquiao. If Bob Arum and wants us to fight at 147, and thats what they demand is, lets do it. I will go at 147 just to fight Manny Pacquiao... Then Marquez send the message to Manny Pacquiao saying: " Manny Pacquiao! We will fight again! You have to face me!"

Manny Pacquiao's WIN - One of the Most Stunning Upset in BOXING history

With all so the so called boxing's best analyst, the surprised came in just at the start of the round 2... Manny Pacquiao dictated and given a hint for what he is about to do at the end of 8 rounds of pure domination boxing fans have ever witnessed. "Manny Pacquiao is INHUMAN" does a well known boxing forum commentator said... He added: "I am a big fan of Floyd Mayweather and I expected Oscar to knockout Manny Pacquiao within 5 rounds. I thought this fight is a mismatch due to Oscar De la Hoya's reach and height advantage... I had been watching Oscar and Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight... And I have never seen anyone dominated the fight, whats surprising is this little guy ( Manny Pacquiao ) had started as a pro at 106 and had won against a legit boxer at Welterweight division... I think Manny Pacquiao surpasses Floyd Mayweather's achievement by winning this fight ( The Dream Match )..."

Oscar enters the ring as a heavy favorite, and almost all boxing analyst had thought the fight is going to be a mismatch.. They all have thought Oscar's height and strength plays big role, plus Oscar De la Hoya is an intelligent fighter. He is a scientific type of a boxer. No one wanted to predict a win for Manny Pacquiao... Even boxers like Bernard Hopkins, Shane Mosely, Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr, Juan Manuel Marquez, etc, had all predicted a KO win for Oscar... Except one... Edwin Valero, Valero had predicted a KO win for Manny Pacquiao. He is one who knows better.

While every body thought Oscar will win, asking Oscar if he surprised: "He's a great fighter. I'm not shocked because at this stage when you face someone like Pacquiao you know you're going to have a fight."
Nacho seems to be more surprised of what he had seen. He said: "Oscar was in good condition but he couldn't control Manny's southpaw stance or style." I had stoped the fight because I dont want his ( Oscar De la Hoya ) greatness inside the ring.

With the fight already done... Boxing fans were now up to making another sounds...
Who is next for Manny Pacquiao? Boxing fans around the PPV community were building somewhat a "Fantasy Boxing Matches" for Pacquiao... People were suggesting names such as:
Ricky Hatton
Miguel Cotto
Antonio Margarito
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Zab Judah

Interviews after the "Dream Match"

Oscar:
"He was the better man tonight and he deserves all the credit, He's a great fighter.

Host:
Were you shocked and surprised as you faced Manny?

Oscar:
"I'm not shocked because at this stage when you face someone like Pacquiao you know you're going to have a fight."
"I trained really hard in the gym, But I told a lot of people it's a lot different in the gym than when you actually get in the ring. My style is to go forward, but he was boxing on his toes all night and waiting for me to make my mistakes. I didn't have the strength to stop him. I felt really flat..."

Host:
You sounded that you are going to retire.. Are you going to retire?
