Amir Khan enters the ring as underdog despite of his trainer beside him, Freddy Roach. Marco Antonio Barrera was one of the most exciting and one of the best fighters be fore he get retired for the first time. His last fight was little close against the #2 best P4P fighter today, Juan Manuel Marquez.
There are 4 fighters who bravely tried their skills coming in in weights and be a man to challenge bigger opponents, its Erik Morales(fighting David Diaz), Manny Pacquiao(fighting David Diaz up to Oscar De la Hoya at 147lbs), Juan Manuel Marquez(fighting Joel Casamayor and Juan Diaz) and now, Marco Antonio Barrera(fighting Amir Khan).
Barrera at 35 of age, enters the ring at exactly 135lbs believing he can win his 72nd fight vs Amir Khan. Khan is a 22 years old who had fought all his fights at 135lbs.
Amir simply dominated the whole 5 rounds. He looks so fast and looks to have a very good stamina. Its like watching a Calzaghe fight. Amir and Barrera have an accidental head collision at first round. That gave Barrera a cut just about 2-3 inches above his left eyes. The blood continuously flows from the the cut, down to his eyes up to the round 5 stoppage.
Barrera when interviewed :
Interviewer: Barrera, we were surprised this evening. What went wrong?
Barrera: We came ready to fight, in the first round, it was a headbutt and was called by the referee as a headbutt, but they didnt stop the fight at the first round, I think they should have stopped it because it was just as big as it was now as it was in the first round.
Interviewer: Do you think you would have won this fight than not?
Barrera: If I have my two eyes and if the blood didnt cover my eyes, you know I couldnt see the guy since round 1 you know. And I couldnt see with my eye.
Interviewer: Were you shocked at the speed of Amir Khan?
Barrera: I didnt really even feel his punches, he got fast hands but his punches did nothing to me I really didn feel them. I just went a little crazy because I wanted to fight before they stop the fight.
Interviewer: Marco, your were at 35 yrs of age, what is your future in boxing now?
Barrera: I am just gonna talk to my family, I still feel good. Waht happens tonight was just for a card, I am gonna discuss this with my family, with Don King Productions and just going to take a break now!
